I'm Ira Carling, a designer looking for work in Boston, MA. I just graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in industrial design with a concentration in soft goods development.

I believe that collaboration is one of the most important aspects of design. throughout my education at Virginia tech I spent just as much time helping peers and sharing critique as I did focusing on my own projects. Different perspectives and collaboration improve design outcomes and carry them far beyond what independent work can accomplish.

When I'm not designing you'll find me exploring the mountains of Vermont, Snowboarding at Sugarbush, or practicing carpentry and helping maintain sheds and outbuildings for my family. I like finding inspiration in old products that have been discarded, whether that's repairing discarded items and returning them to their previous glory or repurposing their materials for new projects.
